For this I have modeled in clay half of the character coming out of the ceiling, then the model was cast in plaster and painted. The other half was painted on the ceiling as a continuation of the carved part of Cupid.
Inspired by the richness and beauty of The Palace of Versailles from France, I used the same technique for modeling a number of characters, angels and decorations that can be seen below.
After they were cast in plaster, each piece or character was finished to the finest detail. Then each piece was mounted on the side walls of the restaurant and covered with gold leaf, which was mean to achieve the same idea of wealth and grandeur found in the Palace of Versailles.
