Project DADA Showroom

It was a real pleasure to work on a great project - a colorful modern mosaic decorating the main and back entrances of the DADA Showroom (a fashion company in Bucharest).

I decorated the interior of the showroom with a similar kind mosaic. Inside the central wall I used a trompe'l oeil painting representing an orange fish floating in a giant landscape. The orange fish became the emblem of the company and I had the opportunity to paint it on different DADA stores.

You can find more information here: www.dada.ro
Enjoy

Project mosaic - CASTEL FILM - BUCHAREST

Another interesting and modern project, although very demanding, is the mosaic I made for the front entry to the ''Castel Film'' company headquarters from Bucharest. For this mosaic I was inspired by Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser. I had to solve many technical problems due to the fact that all the colored stones were placed on different surfaces made of cement and bricks. All the volumes and colored stones were arranged to create an interesting and modern effect, with stylized trees and plants inspired by nature.

Project KRETA

Another huge but rewarding project was decorating the bar and restaurant from complex ''Kreta'', in the city where I was born, Galati. For the bar I made a combination of sculpture and painting of a Cupid which penetrates the ceiling in the space to dance.
For this I have modeled in clay half
of the character coming out of the ceiling, then the model was cast in plaster and painted. The other half was painted on the ceiling as a continuation of the carved part of Cupid.

Inspired by the richness and beauty of The Palace of Versailles from France, I used the same technique for modeling a number of characters, angels and decorations that can be seen below.
After they were cast in plaster, each piece or character was finished to the finest detail. Then each piece was mounted on the side walls of the restaurant and covered with gold leaf, which was mean to achieve the same idea of wealth and grandeur found in the Palace of  Versailles. I hope you like it.

Wall painting for University of Agricultural Sciences

Another amazing and very ambitious project which had the same tromple'l oeil style, is the central wall painting at the entry of University of Agricultural Sciences in Bucharest.

Can you imagine the patience, perseverance and ambition required to paint thousands of leaves, each one with certain shadow, light, materiality and brightness?

I remember the college students who saw this painting often exclaiming: ''how is it possible to grow  sunflowers, apples trees, peaches trees, grapes, etc..
in the same place!!''  but my friends and I just wanted to achieve a more realistic painting as extraordinary and full of wealth.

Painting the ceiling from Faculty of Decorative Arts

Inspired by the great master of trompe'l oeil painting, Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, I painted most of the ceiling of the Faculty of Decorative Arts of Bucharest, with a painting in his eclectic style combined with modern elements, in acrylic colors. Here I understood how impressive the great Michelangelo Buonarroti was with his masterpiece from the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel from Vatican. Here I realized how much satisfaction you can get painting a ceiling, but also physical pain you endure because of the strange body positions you have to use while painting. I hope you like it.

Drawings

For starters I would like to see some drawings made by me in mixed media: charcoal, pencil, pastels, acrylic and water colors. Here I am looking for expressiveness of the human figure and forms and exaggerating certain elements.
